Forums - Hijacking threads

A lot of people complain when someone comes into their thread on a forum and "hijacks it" basically tilts the perspective away from the original post.

For those people i offer this simple definition:

This is a forum, there is no such thing as hijacking a thread.
Let me reiterate that:

fo‧rum  /ˈfɔrəm, ˈfoʊrəm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[fawr-uhm, fohr-uhm]
an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.

I'm tired of people thinking they own threads, and on certain forums people get really pushy about it for no reason.

There is a point where you can get really off topic, there are always extremes, but some people think you can't even slightly stray from the first post which is just inherently wrong and works against the forum ideal itself.
